Ike Leggett to Cut Ribbon for New World Class Autism Center

Montgomery Village, MD (PRWEB) April 11, 2008 -- On Wednesday, April 16, from 2-4 p.m., Maryland State and Montgomery County government representatives will join the Community Services for Autistic Adults and Children (CSAAC) for the dedication of CSAAC's new, 36,000 square-foot center. This is the only one of its kind in the United States today dedicated solely to meeting the unique needs of individuals living with autism who are in need of services. Tours of the facility will be given and light refreshments will be served.

CSAAC expects several hundred visitors, including Maryland State and County representatives, local business people, and families of individuals with autism. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 2:30 p.m., and will be presided over by Montgomery County Executive, Ike Leggett, and Michael Chapman, Director of the Maryland State Developmental Disabilities Administration (standing in for Mr. John Colmers of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene).

Why:    April is National Autism Awareness Month. Autism affects 1 out of 150 children today, and the need for services for those living with autism today is on the rise. CSAAC is the largest autism provider in the nation, and is based in Maryland.
