Scholarship Support From Autism Treatment Clinic

Caledonia, MI (PRWEB) April 23, 2008 -- In honor of Autism Awareness Month, Horizons Developmental Remediation Center is helping raise funds for an organization that provides treatment scholarships to families affected by autism and related disabilities. Currently, at least one in every 150 children is diagnosed on the autism spectrum. This dramatic rise has significantly increased the need for treatment options, and for support of families to access those treatments.

To support the efforts of the scholarship fund, Horizons Developmental Remediation Center is making a donation for every person who signs up to receive their free online newsletter. On the Horizon is a weekly email newsletter for parents and others affected by autism or other developmental disabilities who want simple, effective strategies to reduce stress, support their child's development, and improve quality of life for the whole family. Individuals can learn more about the campaign and register for the newsletter at www.horizonsautism.com.

The RDI® Scholarship Fund was founded by parents to provide financial support for families who want to pursue treatment through the Relationship Development Intervention® Program. This world-renowned program is the only treatment that provides parents with the tools to effectively correct the core features of autism spectrum disorders. "A critical aspect of the RDI® Scholarship Fund is raising money so that we can reach out to more families. We can effectively carry out our mission because of generous donations from individuals and businesses like the Horizons Developmental Remediation Center," says RDI® Scholarship Fund committee member Kathy Darrow.

Founded in 2003 by Nicole Beurkens, the Horizons Developmental Remediation Center serves families who are committed to understanding the most current brain and child development research, working on correcting their child's deficits to the greatest extent possible, and achieving a satisfying quality of life for all family members. Families benefit from the guidance and expertise of the highly sought-after clinicians on staff at Horizons. Nicole Beurkens, Director of the Center, says, "We believe very strongly in the mission of the RDI® Scholarship Fund to provide access to families with financial limitations. This month we are excited to play a role in helping fulfill this mission. The campaign not only raises money for this important cause, but will continue to deliver information about autism and treatment to everyone who signs up for the newsletter. We look forward to making a significant contribution to the scholarship fund, and increasing autism awareness at the same time."
